Bill Bodine and Dan Marshall share a lifelong passion for music and its transformative effects on children’s education. As fellow musicians in the greater Youngstown, Ohio area during the early 1970s, these former band mates went on to divergent careers in music and academia, respectively. More than three decades later, during their retirement years, they reunited to create a non-profit organization that fit their mutual interests and divergent professions.
After identifying a need for well-conceived, effective music-based programs that meet the needs of young children and those with special needs, Bill & Dan created a non-profit organization in 2009, CreativeBridge Coalition (CBC). CBC applies a unique blend of knowledge and insight drawn from the music and academic worlds to create research-based projects dedicated to enhancing the lives of children through music.
Two years ago, Bill & Dan invited their Youngstown-area friend, Linda Wellendorf, to join the team and oversee operations in the Mahoning Valley. Together, these three volunteers continue to build CBC into an organization serving dozens of children and youth around the country.

Our Name and Logo
Our name, CreativeBridge Coalition, represents our initial vision to utilize our backgrounds in music and education to develop a new, service-based company that would build bridges of cooperation and communication between funders, educators and young children and those with special needs. These cooperative efforts result in alliances or “coalitions.”
Our logo image is that of an actual bridge found on all string instruments. This bridge allows the sound vibrations created by striking the strings to resonate across a larger surface, thus creating a louder, richer sound. We imagine CBC working as a bridge that helps to enhance and amplify our musical and educational commitments to those who take part in the coalitions we help to create.
